CDC's Thankful Tree

November is the perfect time of year to tell those around you all of the reasons you are so THANKFUL for them!!

We are so very thankful for all of our teachers here at CDC and want to give families the opportunity to share just how thankful they are as well!!

Just inside the south hall doors is our Thankful Tree.  Families are invited to take a leaf from the envelope hanging beside it to share with everyone exactly why our teachers are amazing!!

Help us fill the platter!

This year, the CDC is joining forces with Serving Others at CUMC to donate food to Minnie's Food Pantry!  The food drive will run from

Monday, November 11-
Friday, November 22

CDC families are welcome to bring donations to their classrooms during the next two weeks!  The classes will be discussing what it means to give to others as part of their Chrisitan Curriculum.  They will also be able to add the paper food items to our platter display as a class!

CDC families are always so very generous, so we would like to thank you in advance for your dedication to helping those in need!

November Chapel Time!

This month in chapel, Pastor Stacey Piyakhun came to talk to us about what it means to be thankful!  We talked about being thankful to God for the ground we walk on, the air we breathe and all the people around us!  We also talked about being thankful to our families, teachers and friends for all of the wonderful things they do for us!

Mrs. Patterson led us in two of the new songs we have been learning in music!

Below are the lyrics and video clips of part of each song so your kiddos can teach them to you!

Thank you, Lord
Let everything that God makes say Thank you, Lord
Let everything that God makes say Thank you, Lord
Let everything that God makes say Thank you, Lord
Thank you, Lord, for making me

The monkeys (bears, gators) in the jungle say Thank you, Lord
Thank you, Lord ooo, ooo, ooo (grr, grr, grr/ chomp, chomp, chomp)
(repeat 3 times)
Thank you, Lord, for making me

OOOOOOOOOOO

Repeat Chorus

Hide Them in My Heart
I'm gonna take God's promises and hide them in my heart
So I won't forget, I'm gonna hide them in my heart
I'm gonna take God's promises and hide them in my heart
Hide them in my heart

Repeat

We are so thankful to all of you and each of your children!

God bless!!

Pink Pumpkin Patch

This year, Ms. Kristen and Ms. Reagan in room 110 had the WoNdErFuL idea to do a pink pumpkin patch in honor of two CDC teachers, who have survived breast cancer!  It was also a wonderful opportunity for the children and teachers to be able to honor those they know who have fought against this terrible disease.

The Pink Pumpkin Patch is just inside the south hallway doors and has really brightened up our school!

If you would like to decorate a pumpkin, we have extras!  Please feel free to grab one from the cradenza outside the CDC office!

We had our first Chapel this week!

This Tuesday and Wednesday, the 2s, 3s, 4s and TK had our first Chapel of the year!  We walked down to the sanctuary where we sang songs, learned the signs for "Jesus" and "God" and talked with Ms. Mindy about the sanctuary!  We discussed what a sanctuary was used for, as well as the differences between it and our classrooms.  Some of the differences the children noticed were:

*  The size of the lights
*  The seating (we discussed the word "pew")
*  That there were no toys
*  The pipes on the front wall (we discussed the organ and how the sound comes out those pipes)
*  The stained glass windows

Ms. Mindy then showed us a picture of a cross and asked if we knew what it was and who it represented.  We talked about how Jesus died on the cross so that we could live forever in heaven!

We then turned our attention up to the large stained glass window and found the cross made of peacock feathers.  We learned that peacocks shed their beautiful feathers so they can grow new, more beautiful ones!  Christians often use peacocks as a symbol of the new life we have in Jesus!
